David and Corrine's engagement session is one to remember! Our original plans of a golden-hour session, turned into the most unexpected and gorgeous blue-hour moment. We had originally planned to head to Upper Onondaga Park, and with its stone bridge, gazebo, and willow trees, we were feeling so excited and inspired.
On the day of the shoot, however, mother nature made other plans for us. Some unexpected rain in the forecast made it clear that our sunset session wasn't going to happen, and the park was likely too muddy. I reached out to David and Corrine to assess our situation. We discussed our options and decided to do something different; let's make the most of it and have fun in the rain! They were excited for the turn of events and were ready-as-ever to capture their moments. We switched gears and headed down to Franklin Square Park, loved by many in Syracuse for its historic charm and distinct architecture.
By the time we got started, the rain was already in full-swing. My husband was pulling double-duty, keeping me (and the camera!) dry as possible with a makeshift umbrella shelter. In spite of everything, David and Corrine were having a blast! They stayed smiling and laughing the whole time, and capturing the love and chemistry between them truly felt effortless.
As the lighter tones of early evening quietly faded to golden dusk, a whisper of our sunset-hour plans crept into Franklin Square after all. One by one, antique lanterns took their posts, enveloping every rain-soaked corner of the park in a shimmering orange glow. A beautiful end to such a fun session, the final photos are some of my favorites that I've ever taken. Thank you, David and Corrine, not only for your adaptability, but for the trust you had in me to interpret your vision. I hope that these photos serve as a look back in time to the start of the rest of your lives together.
